Old letterbox doesnt close

Hi all
The front door has a small letterbox in it. It opens fine, but doesnt close! Heres some pics:

Is there meant to be a spring device? Is it easy to fix?

There's usually some sort of torsion spring incorporated in the hinge.....I guess its broken or one end has sheared off.
I think finding a replacement would be a bit of an issue....maybe best to renew or replace it?

Time for a new one perhaps, although sanding the sides of the opening may help it close in the meantime.

clean and oil the mechanism.
Ensure the flap is not catching on the surrounding painted hole.
