Old shower not working with new combined boiler

I have recently moved into a house which has this old style exposed Aqualisa shower. I have just had a combined boiler installed and it is now difficult to get the right temperature. I move it to hot and it gets too hot and vice versa? When I move the temperature level to hot the water pressure increases as well.

I will be replacing the shower in the next 3 months so just need a temporary solution.

Sounds like the cold is still supplied from the tank the mains pressure coming through the combi is much higher so the mixer is not coping. Long term you will need the cold from the mains too and non return valves (check valves) on the supplies unless the existing shower incorporates them.

Short term it might help to slightly reduce the flow to the hot if you have a valve on the supply but too much because the boiler will not light, if you have a simple control on the boiler for hot water temperature it might help to reduce it for the time being, but there is no easy work around sometimes it works with supplies from diffrent sources sometimes not.

My old set up was mains cold and tank hot which worked fine but now I have a combi I do get a much better shower with both off the main.

Thanks. I should have mentioned I have no tanks or cylinders, all water comes through my combi.

If that's the case and your cold is from the mains, it sounds like the shower thermostat is on the blink

Also you have different cartridges for the aqualisa units depending on whether the supplies are gravity fed or pressurised.

If memory's not failing me I think you should have a grey cartridge.

I would have expected the installer of your new combi to put everything onto the mains and remove the cws tank in loft.

Yep - grey cartridge for these. Good showers - but flocking ugly
