Any help from sparkys would be appreiacted.

I am removing an electric shower which is defunct and replacing by a mixer(NO ELECTRICS OR PUMP involved). Is best practice to remove the MCB feeding the shower or just to turn it off and isolate the cabling. I assume the former is the correct way. The only way of isolating the consumer unit seems to be the main fuse as there is no switch on or near this. Is it legal for me to remove mains fuse, remove MCB and put the fuse back in. Is the work notifiable in which case I may need an electrician.
THANKS

Disconnect the cable from the mcb and from the earth and neutral bars and pull the cable out of the CU. Terminate it and mark it for future use if you like. At the other end, terminate the cable for future use if needed.

You should have an isolator on the CU (labelled MAIN SWITCH) which you should turn off first. Don't touch the supplier's fuse. Ideally, remove the mcb and replace with a proper blanking plate. Or otherwise leave in position and label as SPARE. Make sure the busbar is not live before touching the mcb.
