Hello, recently purchased an old property and trying to fix some of the things brought up in the survey.
The soil vent pipe currently stops just above a first floor window and needs to be extended out and over the roof with a cover, only problem is it's metal and cut at an angle.
The diameter of the pipe is ~106mm, what would be the best way of connecting this to plastic piping and getting it to where it needs to be? Replacing the entire section would be less preferable as half of it is difficult to access.

Cut as low down as you can, replace the removed section with plastic and join them with a DC115 or similar fitting.

As it's only for venting, cut it flush above the bracket, and put in an adaptor that will take black 32mm pipe. It's close enough to the the black gutter to blend in.

Thanks, that's just what I was looking for!

This might be a daft question but what would you recommend cutting it with? I know someone with a grinder but not sure if that's a wise move or not..

A grinder will happily cut it, but you need to be carefull to make sure nothing drops down, so block the pipe first. A 4.5" grinder will be safer to use at that height, but use a thin metal blade.

Be extremely careful when cutting that up a set of ladders, if the blade digs or jams you could be spun off it. You need to be comfortable that high up a set of ladders and in using an angle grinder with one hand & more specifically what to expect and how to counter a jam or if it digs in. Gloves and glasses too.

It's above a fragile plastic roof so the plan is to put scaffold boards across to the wall on the other side of that roof, hopefully should be a bit safer then ladders in theory..
