I ha
ve the project from hell on my hands. An old stone cottage, including stone floors, no Damp Proof Curse.....you get the idea.

My question to some kind soul...I'm going to furr out the walls and dry line them, but how can I do the same with the stone floor?? I have about 2 inches to play with height wise, no option to go down into it.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!

NOt that I know... but what about that self levelling concrete stuff?

Hmmm, DPM Epoxy paint...

Chemical Damp Proof Course for basically a granite floor???

Can I run batons above it to give room for insulation and then just floor on that??

Sorry for the questions, have been abroad for a long time and my memory of UK building methods is a lil vague!

Hi.i am a conservation builder who specialises in listed buildings.About your floor.you must realise your building is built using lime mortar and the whole structure breathes including your floor which has no dpc.Any attempt to seal this or use modern gypsum or cement would be a disaster. You certainly need to use traditional lime mortar on this house which is in keeping with the materials with which it was built and to allow it to breathe and to avoid damp and costly repairs in the future.Hope this is helpful.
