Old waste system

It appears that an old waste system for a basin I am tring to replace consists of a copper waste that then connects up to a lead pipe that then leads outside.
I think that one of these pipes? the lead one has a slight flange.
How do I connect up a plastic waste up to the lead pipe.
Any help greatly appreciated

I don't think you can join plastic to lead without problems, unless the plasic pipe will go inside the lead and you can make a good seal. even then I would not have the joint indoors.
Any good reason why you can't dispense with the lead and use plastic for all the waste?.

You can probably use a plastic compression fitting, 32mm x 40mm, available generally. The 40mm end should fit around 1.25" lead and the 32mm end your waste pipe.

I have needed to use the connectors which are like rubber tubes with a stainless Jubilee clip on each end. Certainly 1 1/2" lead was too big for the compression fitting. The rubber things go under a generic tradename I'll try to remember!

Yes,the lead pipe comes out under several layers of roof tiles.

A great answer.Maybe we should all keep samples and try it out at home.
Best wishes

What do you think we do when we're not on-line? Have normal lives?

That's the one! I found one on a trade site for £2.95 btw.
BES do a "universal connector" which has a thin rubber membrane but I still don't think the 40mm one covers 1 1/2" lead - that's not it! (1 1/2 lead is getting on for 2")
