Brueckner is a suspect in the Madeleine McCann case, but that's all. I don't think he's been found guilty of offences against children, the rape victim was a woman in her 70s.

But for my curiosity - in UK if a prisoner is released after serving his term, is he still subject to conditions, and can be taken back in if he breaks them? Or does that only apply to those released on parole? (I know sex offenders can be on the register for life)

Yes, the way it works is that a person released on parole is still serving their sentence, if they break their parole conditions or commit any offense at all they go back to complete their sentence.
