If it is a pressurised system check the pressure at the boiler. After all this bleeding it will probably need topping up. When you are bleeding it .do any of the pipes to the rad heat up

haha its ok, ive not done any damage, ill just act blonde and say i didnt want to touch it! i will sit and watch them though and find out what it was! if they bang it with a hammer and it works i will be so annoyed lol, thanks for your help everyone!
nope its stone cold! i think it has died, my neighbour checked pressure and all seems fine! i give up! glad its in the hall and not the livingroom!
