The space, and possibly the appearance is more valuable than the insignificant (and barely calculable) amount of heat retention which insulation will provide
Had to raise a slight pittifull smile at the above nutmeg from wooden head who believes insulation in cavity walls is negligible to the point of being useless and furthermore barely calculable.
For someone who claims to know a bit heres a query for you.
What kind of construction should I build my home from and what U values would I attain through full fill poly pearl/ phenolic foam insulation.
Calculate this for me :
100mm clay brick
100mm cavity partial fill Kingspan
100mm aereated block
52mm overall thermal liner insulated board.
What U value do I need to comply with current regs, how might I achieve this for all of my other building elements windows, doors, ceilings, floors,
and what might I need to reach perhaps a passive development.
Humour me, you have thus far.
