I have recently fitted a single 2.5mm cable from a ring main socket to feed four double sockets. I do not intend to put more than 1 TV and a lamp on it at any one time. Is there a problem with doing this? and if so what can I do to cure it?

you may only put one tv or light in it but someone else may put more, it is also against the I.E.E wiring regulations to do what you have done.

That said it is easy to cure.

turn the mains off!

The sockets will be wired as a ring, ( similar to your 2nd & 3rd sockets) go to where you connected the first socket, remove the cable you put in, and also remove one of the origonal cables.

Put the origonal cable in the first new socket. (the cable you just removed)
run a new cable from the last new socket and connect it to the origonal socket.

That way you still have a ring. you should also use 2.5mm twin and earth cable to do this.

This may also help http://www.diydata.com/planning/ring_main/ring_main.htm#ringmain
