Hi all,

I've a Potterton Profile 50E boiler that seems to run and heat well.
As shown in the diagram below, I've added 3 small radiators to existing pipework when I had an extension downstairs (3m into the garden) making a total of 12 rads.
2 of the radiators (circled in red) are hotting up real well whereas the one circled in blue is not heating up at all.

I've tried turning off the other 2 new rads (flow and return) but that does not make any difference. I've also played with the speed of pump (set it to highest) but no difference.
I also closed all other rads (I can only close one side of most old rads) in the house (9 old + 2 new), but this new one does not warm up still. I've removed the TRV on this radiator and replaced it with normal non-TRV on both sides but no affect.

When I open the valves, water seems to flow with good speed from pipe on one side (flow) and no so great speed from the other (return I presume).

Could it be a faulty radiator? Never heard this before, so please advise.

Thanks.

Hi.
Check that the radiator tail where you have wind up thread with PTFE hadn't cover up the end by accident.

Take radiator off wall and run hosepipe to make sure it is clear.

Unusually as if all rads bar this one is shut, it should work.

Dan.

Has it ever worked?
Are the 3 added rads new or are they just newer than the others?

Thanks for your reply folks!

stardanny, I hope I've not done anything stupid like this. Will open the radiator over the weekend and hose it properly.

Mark, I think the feed pipe gets warmish (not super hot) but the return pipe is ice cold.

twgas, no it has never worked. The 3 rads are brand new, 1 towel rail and 2 single 800mm by 600mm convection ones from Wickes.

When all other rads are shut, it gets very barely warmish...
