Open Joint Cladding On a budget

Hi there. I am looking to clad my garden shed / office summer house. I really like the look of open joint cladding. ( vertical battons black background) .

Its looking difficult to achieve the black background

I think I can make battons black easily enough , but a black breathable membrane without writing on it , that is also ok in sun light , seems impossible unless I buy a specialist expensive house wrap. ( I only need a few meters too )

does anyone have any suggestions ?

Yep, black breather membrane fixed to the substrate and then simply put a black pvc tape over the face of the battens, either full length or only where they're exposed.

Are you looking at an HPL board like Trespa, Parklex, something like that?

Normally you would use an edpm gasket stuck to the batten before the cladding.
