Opening into kitchen

We have a section of wall taken out in the dining room and so we now have a through kitchen / diner.

Currently the opening is done in plaster and painted white. So it all looks good.

I just wondered what people thought about having an architrave around the opening ?

Do you think it better to have it clean cut so to speak ?

A squared off plaster opening looks more modern and would be my preference, but if an architrave will suit your existing decor better then there is no reason not to go with it. (It does make life easier if you happen to be wallpapering too.)
If you just put architrave on the wall without some sort of timber lining around the opening though, (like a door lining) it will look wrong - I've seen it several times before.

Right thanks for that. I thought it may look wrong.

I need to get some architrave for a window so i may just hold some up to see how it looks anyway.
