Hi all,

We have a weird stone built outbuilding (circa 1700s) which I believe used to be a small toilet block for the 4 cottages in my street. Its been a storage area but I want to turn it into a small home office.

The floor is brick, and has a 2 ft void underneath it.

What are the options for flooring? There is no damp proof course.

I was thinking maybe something like this with some cheep wood flooring on top, but am worried about damp. https://www.diy.com/departments/dia...-wood-flooring-underlay-panels/1570774_BQ.prd

Any advice or help appreciated.

Is it anything like listed? You need to check.
A girlfriend lived in a brick and timber coach house.
Imagine a single brick built terraced house with lean to shed built structures on each side. The sheds were for coaches/carriages and the ground floor of the brick building was an unused horse stable. Brick flooring.
She lived in a small flat upstairs but used a downstairs stall for storage

We laid polythene down for storing boxed stuff. It was pretty dry but cardboard was certainly slightly crinkly
She had a freezer so we acquired a couple of pallets and sat it on there.

I don't ipunderstand how a brick floor can have a void

You could possibly lay a DPM down and use scaffold boards or even decking ?
If you're lucky and not fussed someone on Facebook might be offering old decking free?

Visqueen (poly) DPM, 50mm Cellote on top of that, 18mm chipboard on top.of that with the joints glued together (D4 PVA) and strapped tight. Walls and ceiling eill also need insulation. Walls possibly insulated PB with dot and dab compound to glue them in place. Ceiling would depend on whats already there
