orbit vs detail sander

What's the difference between an orbit and detail sander?
Won't the detail sander do exactly the same job but allow you also to get into smaller gaps with its "iron" shaped sanding bottom ?

Yes but will take forever. You'd be better off getting a sheet sander and doing the tricky bits by hand.

orbit = fast and smooth

detail = ? ..... well its a bit pointy and can get into a corner

Look for an orbital with the widest orbit for best and fastest results - something like 5mm would be ideal
