Hi,
We are doing our wooden windows, here is our first one made of red Canadian cedar. Finish is natural stain "broue de noix" and many layer of tung oil. Fixed stops are external being part of the frame plank. Interior are small removable stops.
What I have done already is thoroughly clean the fixed stop with KOH and 95% alcool to remove oil, then apply butyl tape all around then gently align, center and lay the double glazing on place with spacers all around in the void between the wood frame and the side of the double glazing window.
My questions are:
1- Do I fill the void around with some stuff like silicon or less aggressive caulking or I leave it air gap?
2- Do I also put some butyl tape on the interior beneath the removable stops?
