Outbuilding/asbestos replace with sectional garage

My 1st post
I want to put one off these up , you can see they meet
Building reg etc ,

My question is I have a asbestos building / wooden framed
With a concrete floor , I would want to take it down an replace
With 1 off the above sectional garages
Ps they are about same size (but better quality)..

Before you can erect anything in its place that asbestos structure has to be removed and it has to be removed by specialists.

If you try to do it yourself you are breaking the law as it has to be disposed of by someone with the correct licence to do so. You can't just chop it up and take it down the tip.

It is not worth cutting corners here. The new garage will be a lot heavier than the current asbestos building. Putting it up on a base that is not up to standard required will be asking for trouble.

You will need to remove the existing garage, this will cost upwards of £several hundred, as asbestos disposal is strictly regulated. Make sure whoever takes it has a Waste Carriers Licence and leaves you a copy of the consignment note with theirs, yours and the disposal sites details. If the waste is dumped anywhere other than an authorised landfill site and traced back to you, the Environment Agency will prosecute YOU! Believe me, they have deep pockets!

Once this is done a base will need to be prepared to the garage manufacturers specifications. If existing base is not up to scratch, and I doubt very much it will be, then a new base will be needed. Maybe possible to use the old base as a foundation for the new slab, which will need to be to the specification of the garage manufacturer. If the base is not to the correct standard, any guarantee the manufacturer supplies with the garage will be void!

I can't get car in garage not wide enough, not had the need to before! how do I Find out my metre squared m2 as can't go above 30, on a normal calculator ( example how to do be good)

If you do not have the mathematical skill to calculate the area of your garage, I think you should employ someone to carry out the work as you are unable to set out the job or check the base thickness.

To work out the square area you simply multiply the length by the breadth.
Primary school arithmetic.

i.e. 3metres x 10 metres =30sq metres

or 2 metres x 15 metres =30sq metres

or any other combination you can think of that will give you 30 sq metres.

My local council tip has a skip for asbestos and will take it free of charge as long as it is double wrapped...that is what i done with my asbestos garage.

Removing asbestos cement sheets is not a controlled activity - anybody can do it. Search out the HSE guide and follow the instructions. But the sheets are classed as special waste and incorrect disposal is illegal. Local authority tips will take it from householders but it must be double wrapped and taped in 1200g polythene. They also limit the number of sheets. My local tip is 6 sheets per household. Don't know what stops you going back two or three times over two or three days though.

Those guys have scary good memories for what your dumping. Got an ear full for my 3rd load of soil in just under a month.

Useful to note that tips may take asbestos, but usually only bonded cement sheets, no fiber, tiles, insulation, lagging... etc.

I got you mate pretty simple now I see it ,

Regarding asbestos removal my local council will supply me
With many bags, then there is a local authority site special
For hazard waste. Will post a topic when I start it etc
