Outdoor Socket & RCD

I apologize in advance as I know this has been asked before (I have read the previous posts but I am still a bit confused)

Does an outdoor socket need it's own 30mA RCD protection if the circuit it is spurred from already is protected by a 30mA RCD in the CU?

If additional RCD protection is required, would an RCD FCU suffice?

No, as the circuit is protected, this is all that is required.

However, if the cable could be run easily to the Consumer Unit, I would always prefer this method, protecting it via an RCBO, or using an RCD incorporated into the socket.

With xmas coming, and all these lights plugged in........you don't want to loose power to all your sockets when a little bit of damp gets in!
