Hello all, I just had a secure entry system installed. The main panel which is made of steel was too small to go in the original space so we had to attach it to some treated hardboard. I was wondering if anyone could suggest what I should use to make a seal between the two to stop rain getting in. I tried silicone but it peels away after a couple of weeks.

All suggestions greatly appreciated!

Hardboards of no use , you need ply for exterior use, but why is main board on the exterior?

Thanks for the reply.

External treated ply was what I meant. The main panel is outside because... it's a secure entry system - to stop people coming into the building unannounced.

OOOh you mean entry panel, main panel houses all the electrics and circuits.
A s/steel panel would be better and more secure.

Yes, it's stainless steel. Ach, you demonstrate a problem that can be found in a small number of tradesmen: this desire to seem like smart erses whilst avoiding answering the most simple of questions... ;)

If anyone else can offer some constructive advice, it would be much appreciated.

Okay... thanks for taking the time.

If anyone is able to answer the specific question I asked then I would be extremely grateful for the advice.
