What am I searching for on Screwfix/B&Q/Wickes etc when looking for some external telephone wire?

Someone has cut it when gardening and for now, u til fibre is installed, I want to just joint it.

What type will it be?
How many cores?
What joint box for outside?

Any 2 core will do for a temp. repair just look in you conection box where the cable enters your house and see which pair are used then connect both ends of your 2 wire to the same pair at each end and insulate. Crimps will do or solder and shrink tube and amalgamating tape If you particularly want the same cable than take your pick here

Where it goes in box is a bit of a pain to get to do was just going to do the joint outside where it's cut.

I was just going to use some terminal strip and amalgamating tape. It's just to get it working for now until fibre installed.

I'm still struggling to find cables locally, I wanted it for tomorrow, just thought above would have done. All seem like are 25M drums to! I only need a couple of metres

The correct jointing kit is eg https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/233823894403
The same seller has 2m of drop wire if you do need extra length (in which case you'd probably need 2 of the joint kits too)
If you're desperate buy an ethernet patch cable and cut that up. I think even poundland have them.
They look good. I may order those, but do a temp.fix for now thanks.

Didn't think about ethernet cable I've got some lengths of those, you think they'll be ok?

Many hardware stores sell by the metre . The reference to the junction box was to identify which wires need connecting as the cable is multi core .

Did a temp repair with ethernet length, just did a joint and wrapped in amalgamating tape so hopefully holds.

Appreciate the help, think I'll order proper joint of doesn't swap to fibre.

As mentioned earlier, only two cores run into the back of the NTE5 box.

The gel filled connectors are watertight but you need alligator pliers to crimp them.

You will probably be ok with a terminal block in the short term. Rather than the tape, you could smother it with Ct1 (or similar). The CT1 might be conductive, so disconnect the two cables at A and B in the NTE5 box first.
