I'm replacing an outside light on a bungalow. The existing flat twin & earth drops down from the soffit and is too short. I can't access the loft for various reasons to extend the cable from inside. All the outside junction boxes seem to be only suitable for round cable. Any suggestions? The box would be located tight up under the eaves and well protected from weather.

Although twin & earth is not ideal externally, if it is under the soffit and out of the sunlight its unlikely to cause an issue in practice. You can get glands designed for flat twin and earth cable. Use some flexible cable between the JB & the fixture such as hituff.
