In my back garden, i have an outdoor security light.

At the backdoor, is the switch which operates this.

This switch is white, and on the face plate, it has the switch, a red glowing light thing about the switch, and to the left, a wee socket to hold a fuse, which you pop out with a wee screwdriver or similar.

I am wanting to replace this with a brass one.

I have done all the other sockets in my home, but unsure on this one. Is it just a c ase of going to b&q and buying the same type of socket. My worry is that some sockets take different size fuses, or do they all operate upto 13amps??

Cheers

What you've got there is a fused connection unit, more often referred to as an FCU or fused spur. It will take a fuse up to 13A, but for an average outdoor light you should be fitting a 3A fuse into the carrier. They accept standard plugtop fuses, so you should have no problem getting hold of one the correct size. Unfortunately they usually come packaged with a 13A fuse when new.
