Right heres the situation: I have a two way switch at the bottom of the stairs beside the door that controls the light on the stairs. Outside i want to add a light with a sensor. To do this i think i need to change the switch to a two-gang,then run a 3-core cable from the switch to the outside light by takin a feed off the switch already in use (2-way) using a link. Pretty sure this is right but would be handy if somebody could tell me what cables go where in the switch as someone said something about connecting a neutral in a connector block and taking one out the same block to the outside light? Thanks in advance!

The existing switch has a red in the common then a yellow and a blue? I understand this an old coloured 3-core? I have drawn a diagram on paint, if somebody knew how to add it to my post i could do that?

yes it is old colours, but that 3 core is used for the two way switching still no neutral, sorry

well you need to get a neutral to that switch position if you want to have a switch to control it, or you could just take a new cable from the nearest light fitting to the external light it doesnt need to be a 3 core a twin & earth will be ok
