outside light

adding a outside light, will spur from socket to double pole fused switch, straight through wall then surfaced wired to light fitting....do i need rcd protection??? as no wires will be embeded in the wall.

As light is outside I would fit RCD spur.
Not sure from 17th point of view.

You don't need RCD protection for fixed lighting (in this case). Sockets without RCD protection are worth upgrading anyway, so that would be recommended too, from a safety point of view. What sort of cable are you using?

You will need to ensure the light is either ..A purpose made Energy saver model..or it has some form of Automatic control..i.e Dusk till dawn photocell etc, if not you are Not complying with the Building Regulations .. {Part L}as this is a new exterior installation.
