Hi Experts,
Picture below show our front stair to the building of a block of flat. We have been looking to get these looking better but without much luck.
Currently these are asphalt covered and been advised so far that the only options are to get an asphalt company to redo the full Asphalt.

Tiling might be an alternative options but believe the asphalt will still need to be removed and might not be as durable as Asphalt.

Will concrete be a better cheaper alternative as durable as Asphalt?

Many thanks

ok cool! Thanks for the clarification. So Trade man wise what would be your recommendation - Would any builder be able to remove the original Asphalt and then apply paving?

Builder or hard landscaper, The asphalt could be removed easily by them, grinder to cut and then just lift it. Should be a fairly small job....

You can lay floor tiles on asphalt, just make sure they are frost resistant and non-slip suitable for outdoor use. You would obviously need to repair the splits in the asphalt first.
As Freddie said above, the steps are probably asphalted for a reason such as a room or entrance below.

in a way under the stairs, there is a kind of cellar but open cellar - as mostly storage stuff but not dry storage as water do go through from the road and I guess the cracks from the Asphalt.

an additional question - is what would be the most durable? Asphalt replacement or tiling it?
