Can anyone confirm how an Oventrop 3 way diverter valve works ie is it open one route out and closed the other and vice versa or are their intermediate positions where both routes out are open?
I've fitted it into my hot water system with the idea that at some stage I'll fit a solar system which heats up the water in my hot tank. The idea of the 3 way valve was to take water from the hot tank directly to the taps when above say 50 degrees but when below this that route would be closed off by the 3 way valve and instead the water would go via the boiler and be heated that way. However, what seems to be happening - certainly below the 50 degree setting - is that water is going via both routes out of the valve - therefore even though the boiler does heat the water which goes via that route it is being mixed at the taps with water that has travelled by the other route - giving me warm water - or certainly not hot.
