I have deep artex on my bathroom ceiling.

the ceiling measures 4m long and 1.2m wide

As does it matter that joints will not stagger if i just use a 1.2m wide board as it will fit perfectly in the room? Or do i still have to cut it so the joints stagger?

A couple of bits of artex are quite a lot deeper than the majority - would you scrape the tops off before installing the board?

what length screws advised?

batten perpendicular to ceiling joists and then fit plasterboard perpendicular to battens?

what size battens are usually used?

knock the high spots off the artex, and board straight over. cut your board so the edges land on timbers above.
if it’s flat you’d be wasting your time battening it. its less than 2 full boards. 50mm screws.
