So guys,

I lifted my carpet near the gas meter in the corner of room and I noticed that the copper pipe directly from the meter and runs along the skirting and concrete floor (approx the first 2 feet in length) has oxidised to a green colour. I can’t smell gas, but should I be worried?

Clean it with wire wool,

Andy
Thanks Andy

If I don’t clean it (as it’s hidden under carpet, I am worried it would corrode the pipe further or is it something superficial; unsightly but harmless?

You have got damp somewhere. In the dry, copper pipe will eventually go a dark brown, not green. If not fixed the green will come back.

Dry everything thoroughly after the damp cloth as wire wool debris will get everywhere and if there is damp it will go rusty instead of the copper!
