I have a gas meter in the corner of our living room with a wooden box around it. We want the box removed (may later install another enclosure). We are replacing the floor in that room (carpet to laminate).

The meter is attached to a copper colour bracket, which then screws on to another bracket that is screwed to the floor. I want to separate the brackets, remove the floor bracket, replace flooring and then re-assemble as it all was. I will get a Gas Safe guy to check for leaks after it all.

Any issues with doing this?

As long as it is just the brackets, and you at all times keep the meter supported I cant see a problem, you cant however remove the actual meter

Maybe to keep cost down, just have a new meter cupboard constructed and the laminate laid to the exterior of the cupboard. please remember there will be need for access for meter removal/exchange when you are forced into a smart gas meter (n) or if you already have a smart meter and want to change gas supplier.
