We’ve moved. No longer semi-detached but fully detached now!

The place we’ve bought is an old sandstone byre that was converted and extended (with block work) in the mid 1980’s. The interior walls of the byre are sandstone that’s been painted at some point in the past, but it now needs refreshing. The bottom 2 ft of the sandstone walls have some moisture wicking up from the ground which we know we’ll have to live with... there’s an injection damp course but it’s not effective for solid sandstone walls - we learned that from a previous house we had treated 30 years ago. The exterior walls are all unpainted natural stone.

In a nutshell, that’s what we’re dealing with.

Does anyone have any tips or advice on painting the inside walls? Sealer? Paint types? etc. We know the moisture/damp is here to stay and it’s not that bad, we just want a finish that’ll last a few years between fresh coats.
