We have just discovered that a lot of the gloss in our house is lead-based. We have a little baby and would like to paint over to seal it in.

We don't want to risk stripping it and can't afford to get someone in to do it.

Is there anything out there that could be put on the gloss so it could be glossed over??

Thanks

The paintwork on the surface will be fine..unless it hasnt been touched for nearly fifty years...

Stirpping the woodwork with paint stripper is the safest option if it really needs to come of...safer still..remove it and replace it with new wood.

If you need to rub it down use wet and dry...that will keep the dust down..sponge all the residue off into a bucket and pour away...

Even if the wood work was painted with lead paint I doubt youll cut through enough layers of it when your rubbing it down anyway.
