If it is bare then prime first then undercoat and gloss.
Is it for a business property/ Care Home etc ,?
it would be worth checking with Fire Safety ( or the firms Insurance Companies advice) they may require a fire retardant paint. Crown Trade Timonox do a range.
Plus you should check the Intumescent door seal, this has to be paint free.
Do the job wrong and there could be big trouble.
