Hi

I have an fairly small open fireplace, and want to paint the back of it and it now looks quite used. What type of paint do I need to use, as I haven't a clue.

Naturally I'm thinking of a water based paint. I do have some chalk paint (you paint it on the wall and the kids can paint on it). Will this do?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

is that politically correct "Black" board paint :?: it`ll probably do unless it contains lead or asbestos or highly organic compounds  And I hope you burn smokeless fuel in the fire

Coincidentally, I was in a specialsit shop last weekend and asked the same question - the answer was to use Water Based Matt Black Emulsion, or Heat Resistant Matt Black Paint
