Hello, paint advice please.
I’ve previously painted Ikea wardrobe doors using primer & top coat etc worked fine but took forever.
I’m currently painting a new run of Ikea type doors (plastic topped mdf) and mentioned to our joiner how long the process takes, he spoke to his decorator friend (sorry this is long winded) who suggested he doesn’t use primer he just sands down and uses a MSP paint from a local paint store.
So I did this.
After the second coat had dried for 24 hours I gave a light sand and the paint just peeled. Awfully. It’s coming straight off like it hasn’t adhered at all.
In my despair … I took all the loose bits off and repainted.
How badly have I messed up?
My hopes were that if I leave it long enough to cure and then go with a top coat of furniture lacquer I might be ok?
It needs another coat of paint to cover the bits that have peeled but am I wasting my time repainting and praying?
