I ve seen no posts on this subject which makes me think I must be mad

I have a laminate floor or a wood floor but that’s a separate story.

It’s scuffed marked and generally in a bad shape so I was thinking to paint it with heavy duty floor paint.

Has anyone ever done this?! What are the pros and cons. Leyland slate floor paint seems a nice colour and would go with white walls etc

Interesting idea but I suspect the laminate will chip and peel pretty quickly.
Laminate on walls or cupboards can be painted using a special grip primer, but they don't get the wear a floor does.
Unlike painting regular floorboards (which really doesn't wear well in anything other than a bedroom) the paint cannot soak in to the wood.
If it is solid wood it might be possible to sand and refinish a fairly simple but protracted and dusty job, there are companies that specialise they have all the gear and will be much quicker with a bit less mess.
Otherwise vinyl or carpet are your best options I would say.
