Hi all,

I have a bedroom celling which I think was painted with cheap B&Q white vinyl silk 4 years ago. I am now wanting to paint the celling with Dulux White Matt but from reading online people suggest this cannot be done and that the matt paint will not fix correct and could also dis colour and react with the vinyl silk.

Is the above true

Matt over silk has a habit of splitting and cracking, you have to give the silk a hard rub down to take the sheen off. Do this and you'll be fine.

Some guys also use a binder coat, something like zinsser 123 would be ok or even gardz, but TBH elbow grease won't cost you anything extra.

Well I have a sanding pole and head so would this be ok to use with something like 120 grit
