Painting new brickwork

Evening all

My garage doorway has just been in-filled with brickwork (West Hoathleys).

I have bought some Santex exterior masonry paint, the question is how long should I leave the brickwork before painting and do I need to seal beforehand with something or use a watered down coat first?

Brickwork was done a 8 days ago.
