Stripping paint off exterior brickwork

I live in a Victorian villa style house, the brickwork is in good condition and painted......

I would like to remove the paint from the brickwork. I realise this is not an easy job. Some of the bricks are of a different colour, detailing and such like at the corners and around windows/doors. So removing this would improved the look greatly. Maybe just removing the paint of the detailing brickwork??

How is it done?
Is it something that I could DIY?
Is it toooo costly?
