Hi all,

Once you have just had a wall plastered, before you paint over it should you coat the plaster with something first before applying the paint??

How recently plastered? It is usual to give a week or so in order to dry out then you can apply a coat of emulsion directly to the plaster.

is the plaster is dry then you can paint it but use a non vinyle matt emulsion people say thin the first coat down 30percent but me myself think that is to much as its like water so i just do it at 20percent water

hope this helps carl

7 -10 days if it's just a skim coat; at least 4 weeks if it's a full float & set (base & finish plaster).
