Painting over matt

Hello

I decorated our house about a year ago, most of the rooms are matt white. Now I wish to apply a colour over the white but as I've had the paint on the wall for about a year would it be best to give it a quick wash down before the colour? Or would it be OK just to apply it straight on?

So long as the walls are pretty clean then go straight over them with the new emulsion

If dirty then use sugar soap or water at a minimum. Don't use washing up liquid it has silicates
