Painting over sellotape marks

I need to re-paint a room with marks / adhesive residue from some sellotape.

Do I need to do any prep before painting? I was going to try and remove the residue (maybe a damp cloth) then sand lightly before painting. Is this sufficient or do I need to do something else? I have some Zinsser BIN - is that necessary?

Try rubbing it with turps first, this might dissolve the residue.

Will that be ok to paint over with emulsion?

A squirt of WD 40 can work then wash off

or wipe the marks with a solution of Paint Brush Cleaner and water .

Scape it off and just touch up with filler. Don't put solvents on it.
