Hello guys n gals, gotta say this site is excellent, seems like a community of super friendly people here with a wealth of information and im pleased to be a small part of it.

Ok to my point!!

I have stained and varnished door frames and skirting boards and would like to paint them white.

Seems like the general consensus is to lightly sand the wood, Wash down with Sugar soap or white spirit and then primer?

Well im off to B&Q later today and i was wondering if any of u top people could point me in the right direction of specific products to purchase (ie best Primer type, best paint?

Thanks in advance for any advice folks

You aint met growler yet then?...

You more or less on the right track...give it a good rub down, especially on any sharp edges then give it a coat of melemine primer..or better still, zinseer bin or dulux supergrip.

Light rub down again then straight on with your finishing coats.

Sure i have......I married her lol!!

Thanks for the quick reply Zampa, much appreciated m8.

Spent a good couple of hours sanding 2day, Got Dulux supergrip and Dulux Satinwood for finishing coats.

So once i apply the supergrip your saying should lightly sand again before finishing coats??

Cheers Fella
