Painting Weatherboard - Help!

I have weatherboard (Essex) on each side of my house and am considering painting. Can anybody advise me on the best preparation/paint to use?

Is it bare?..previously painted?..are you changing the colour, is it flaking?...

More details needed.

Thanks for yr reply. It is already painted, not really flaking and I am looking at circa 20 sq metres

Just rub it down undercoat it then gloss
