i have had to recently take my toilet out i am now putting it back it it was sealed with wax and tape.i have had to throw that connection away because the seals went on it.just been to b & q and
ask the plumber what connection i need he gave me a connetion which is quick fix without glue but it does not fit it is to small for the soil pipe but fits on the tolilet.my house is 60 years old anyone know what coneection u get.

thanks in advance

60 yr old= Cast iron soilpipe, I`ll bet.........and sometimes the "bore" can vary with each type  Can you measure Internal Dia. and ext. Dia. of pipe that goes to WC.?

Outside on your cast stack ( if it is cast) your toilet will be connected in to a `tee` piece. Where it joins, you will see a collar where your pipe is inserted. You can gently tap around this collar & break your cast toilet pipe connection, then Presto! you can fit your pan connector to a piece of new plastic soil pipe & in turn into the cast collar. Making sure of course that you seal it with copious amounts of a suitable sealant.
Sadly this is the Cowboy`s way of doing it & it will eventually leak  You are probably in dire need of a new stack anyway. Buy one, they`re only cheap & you`ll probably get it fitted for about 80 quid.

so you`ve had someone trying to unblock the drain ....is this why you have a strange joint on the pan outlet.......was it removed by Them

yes the old connection was removed it is no good now.it was a connection then a small piece of waste pipe over the connection then it was inserted into soil pipe and sealed with something i dont know what though

i have now bought a connection that fitted on the toilet and did not fit perfectly but sloted into my soil pipe i have sealed the remaining gap around the inside of the soil pipe with silicone.will the silicone be sufficent.
thanks in advance
