Pan connector won't seal

I think because the outlet isn't round. I've had the toilet over a year so it can't go back.

I was wondering if a DC115 band seal would make a better seal and I could put some 4" pipe into that?

That doesn't explain why it can't go back. You have up to seven years to take back goods that were faulty when you bought them. But it's up to you too provide the evidence that it wasn't you that damaged or and it's not wear and tear etc. They'd struggle to blame you for that miss mould fault!
 
I had the same problem with a brand new BTW pan, I think it was because the spigot was only part glazed and the bottom (outside) of the spigot was quite rough.
I tried a Wavin pan connector and a McAlpine one but both leaked, I then got a McAlpine one similar to the one in the link above but a bit longer, tightened the jubilee clip and job done.
