where can I get mdf panels that look like Victorian (or Georgian?) panelling?

Sunshine12, good evening.

Suggest you try Googling for "Fielded Paneling"

Loads of different styles and dimensions in MDF

Ken.

Cheers, I'm trying to find MDF, been to local builders merchants this morning they looked at me like had no idea :/

Is it possible to buy a panel already pre moulded as such? Or am I going to have to buy 1x1, 2x1 etc to make the panels? Thanks

Not enough info. What kind of panelling are you trying to make? Full wall? Wainscoting? Dado-height? Inside doorways? Rich and sumptuous? Rustic? Arts and crafts? Raised fielded? Shiplap? 'Panelling' can mean so many different things!

Apologies, approx 1m in height, just basic squares or rectangles to mimic Victorian.

And then some detailing around windows & tops of doors.

Seen some on the English panel company but too expensive, I've also googled how to make Victorian wall panelling & various sites are suggesting to buy all individual components separate, e.g. 8x4 sheets of mdf cut & fixed to wall, then make the squares or rectangles with planks of timber, then fix beading style timber to the inside & a dado rail on top.

I just wondered if there's any pre made mdf panels or quicker/cheaper ways to do so

I'm not aware of any. I doubt it would be cheaper than making your own from sheet MDF though. No need for timber except maybe for the beading. As you can see from the link I posted, there's nothing to it, really.

(Although I don't think this example looks that good, tbh)

If you want rectangles, why not just glue and pin the timber mouldings directly to the wall?

Any joins where MDF sheets meet are likely to develop hairline cracks, even if you use biscuits. Additionally, what happens where the MDF meets the skirting? It may well jut out further than the top of the skirting.

I had to make some panels to fit into a Victorian/early Edwardian hall where a PA system was operated and we wanted to hide the operator now and again

I did it with sheets of mdf , other parts made from sheet mdf cut into strips, and architrave.
Once painted up it looked ok.

Ours ended up as three sided boxes, held together with pin hinges

You did used to be able to buy panels that were like the cheap panel doors and slotted together
