Hi everyone,

I'm hoping you might be able to help with the detailing of my parapet wall.

I had a blockwork extension built a few years back and its taken till now to get it clad with timber.

As it currently stands, the builders put a concrete coping stone over the cavity but it was always the plan that once the extension was clad we could install an aluminium capping over everything. However, I didn't appreciate the cost of the aluminium so I'm trying to find an alternative.

I have browsed the forums for similiar topics and have come up with the detail below. If anyone has any suggestions / better ideas etc it would be appreciated.

As I've never done this before it would be good to hear peoples opinions on fixing methods for the fibreglass trims and if the trims they paintable?

There is no ventilation for the rainscreen in that detail. Nor Cavity tray

Ideally you should obtain and follow the instructions from the maker of the system you plan to fit - unless you want to veer from a standard installation for some reason.

Thanks for the quick reply Woody.

We have gone with the rainscreen profile so that we didnt need to ventilate behind as its classed as an "open jointed type". BC have confirmed their happy with this aswell.

The cavity tray does exist, i just haven't drawn it on.

Point taken, I'm just hoping to find a cheaper alternative to the aluminium as this is really just for aesthetics.
