What PRECISELY are the symptons?

The fire and pilot light go out after a short period of time. It will not light at all on high setting.

Well, I dont think it has anything to do with a 'vacuum operated sensor' and can probably be repaired as opposed to needing new parts.

As you well know, Joe, one isn't allowed to give gas advice. Suffice to say that an increase in aeromotive force may have a bearing.

Thanks 'Fireman T' for your advice. I contacted another gas fitter who found that the pilot light was blocked. He cleared the blockage which was stopping the pilot heating the thermocoupler and the fire is now working perfectly.
SO MUCH FOR BRITISH GAS EXPERTISE!!!
