Patching up chased walls before a skim

S

I have a living room where I've chased out for speaker cables and fitted 2 new door linings.

I need to patch this up, current plaster is very sandy. House is 1930's.

Is it ok to use hardwall on this?

I do have a plasterer in shortly to skim the room afterwards

Also, have some wooden lintels above the doors which plaster has come away, should i PVA these first before I patch things up

Thanks

You could use Hardwall but I use Bonding on cable chases as it’ll stick better to cables/cable protectors/boxes etc. Re the timber lintels; plaster won’t stick to wood, it’ll crack & fall off. Screw some strips of plasterboard to the timber first & then use Bonding to fill out to the surrounding wall level. Put a strip of reinforcing tape over all the joins for good measure prior to skimming.

Thanks, will give that a go

do i need to PVA anythign before hand ?

Cheers again
