I've got a set of old aluminium patio doors (rather large ones) and they need replacing. They are in the living room and it's always cold in there. What I'd like to know is, what is the best kind of patio door I can get as the replacement? Are there things to look out for when buying a new set?

I'm a bit confused over the width of the gap in the selaed units (is biggest best, if so what is the biggest 28mm?)

Is there a kind of glass that will make the room warmer? (ie. energy efficient) what is Pilkington glass and is it only available from the manufcturer?

Do I need to get a specialist glazer, presumambly they fit better stuff, or do all glazers have access to the full range.

I'm in the Birmingham area, any recommendations?

thanks in advance.
